This lemon garlic tahini dressing is excellent. A light and fresh sauce/dressing with a nutty, roasted sesame flavor and a hint of lemon and garlic. This tasty, creamy tahini dressing (or sauce) is bright and vibrant and pairs perfectly with almost anything.

A dear friend gave me this recipe a few year ago and it's now my go to dressing that I always have ready in the refrigerator. It's a great salad dressing and perfect on steamed or grilled vegetables.

It's light, fresh and tangy, naturally dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan.

  1. Step 4: Drizzle over steamed veg or toss through your favorite salad and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

Hint: Alternatively you can make this in the nutri bullet instead of a jar for a fast and super smooth result.

Substitutions and variations

  • Spicy - add chopped chili or chili flakes to the ingredients to add heat into the dressing and smoked paprika or cumin for another flavor dimension.
  • Nutty - substitute any nut butter instead of the tahini for a nuttier version
  • Sweeter - add honey or maple syrup for a sweeter dressing

Equipment

Jar with a lid or nutri bullet

Storage

Store the dressing in a sealed container or jar in the refrigerator. Good for 3-4 weeks. The dressing will thicken over time, add a little more water and shake if needed to restore your preferred consistency.

Give it a good stir or shake before serving so it gets nice and creamy, the ingredients can separate once it sits for a while.

Top Tip

You can easily adjust the thickness of this creamy tahini dressing by adding more or less water or tahini. The tahini is what makes it thicker. Simply add slightly less for a thinner sauce or dressing.

This creamy sesame dressing recipe is divine and versatile and can be served as a dip, sauce or dressing. It's easy to make and ready in just a few minutes! It's creamy, flavorful, and perfect for jazzing up your homegrown salads and vegetables.

Hey, I'm Camilla

a qualified chef, hunter gatherer and keen food grower who loves to fish. I started my food blog as a platform to share my recipes and tips on how to become more food self sufficient.

I spent many years cooking food in fancy restaurants but my favorite food that I am the most proud of is the food that I cook at my homestead in rural New Zealand from homegrown or raised, hunted, gathered or caught ingredients.

My recipes are fresh, seasonal, farmhouse style home cooking.
